Introduction

Raqs Sharqi may be a dance of the hips, but don’t forget the rest of the torso! In this class you will learn different ways to move the upper body. These movements can eventually be combined with movements of the lower torso. We start with isolation drills for warming up then move to:

 

Chest circles, vertical and horizontal

Chest slides

Chest Figure 8s

Upper body sway

Gushes – a full body figure 8 movement

 

Cool-down movements to relax the spine.
